Welcome back to our blog series Inside the World of appcycle! In this week’s instalment, we had a conversation with our CEO to give our followers some insight about the people who lead our company. If you want to learn more about our company philosophy and the people who run it, keep reading!
Could you please introduce yourself?
My name is Kei Fujimaki, and I am the CEO of appcycle inc. Thank you for having me.
Where are you from?
I am from Aomori city in Aomori Prefecture.
What did you used to do before becoming appcycle’s CEO?
I used to work in the cosmetology, regenerative medicine, and cosmetics industries.
What attracted you to appcycle?
I found out that leather could be made from apples so I founded the company because I wanted to make the best apple leather in Japan.
Can you give us a rough schedule of what you do in a day from when you wake up and work until you end the workday?
I normally wake up at 4:00 AM and check my email, my schedule, and then I meditate. At around 6:00, I eat a light breakfast, shower, and leave the house by 7:30 AM.
If I’m doing sales related activities on a particular day, I am out and about in the morning and afternoon. But if it’s more of an office work day, I stay in the office until the evening.
Regardless of what I did during the day, I normally have dinner outside four times a week to meet with various people regarding business matters.
At the end of every day, I go home at 11:00 PM, take a bath, and go to bed between 12:00 and 1:00 AM.
What do you love most about your job? What is most challenging about it?
I love talking with people. Everyone has a lot of problems, so solving them, even if only a little at a time, is what makes my life worth living.
What’s your favourite product that you’ve made/collaborated with for appcycle? Why?
I love all of the products because of the thoughtfulness with everyone involved.
What do you like the most about Aomori?
It is a place that many people have strong feelings of love for. Everyone loves Aomori!
Do you have a message for our readers?
appcycle’s products are made to add new value to things that used to be thrown away and send them out into the world. We hope that our products will help you to think about the state of the environment, social issues, and regional issues. It is our mission to encourage others to consider what each of us can do to help.
What would your advice be for someone who wants to become a CEO one day?
Becoming a CEO is only a means to make the world a better place, and I believe it is important to have a goal that pertains to how great we can make the future of mankind and the earth through the position. Let’s not be complacent and work as a team to create a bright future!
