RINGO-TEX, a vegan leather made from apples, selected for use in headrest covers by Japanese airline, ANA.
Japanese startup appcycle inc.’s first product to be used in headrest covers in a special ANA concept aircraft as part of the airline’s commitment to ESG goals.
appcycle inc. is pleased to announce that its first product, a vegan leather made from apples, RINGO-TEX, has been selected for use in headrest covers on special aircraft as part of ANA’s ANA Future Promise initiative. RINGO-TEX is a vegan leather that reuses apple waste from apple products made in Aomori. Since one of appcycle’s missions is to create a sustainable future using eco-friendly products, the company is trying to reduce CO2 emissions and polyurethane usage compared to other vegan leathers. To this end, appcyle is adopting a technology that emits as little CO2 as possible when drying the apple residues used in the product.
